Our Kennel
Cavals' Dancing Josie Female Bios:
Caval’s Dancing Josie, CGC
is a grey sable with a docked tail. Josie is very alert and watchful, nothing escapes her attention.
It is truly amazing that a small dog can be so aware of all that goes on around her. Josie completed puppy and basic obedience
classes, has her Canine Good Citizen certificate and gave conformation shows a try. Alas, Josie prefers to be home herding
the cat or being a couch potato to the show ring. She is very much “Daddy’s girl”. Her favorite thing is
to curl up next to him on the couch and watch TV.

Fantasi Little Jack Horner Male Bios:
Fantasi Little Jack Horner, CGC is a red sable with a full tail. From the start it was obvious Jack was the bold and daring one. He may be
named for the Nursery Rhyme, but there has been no keeping this guy in the corner. Jack came out of his crate at the airport
with a “Here I am world!” attitude. Of course puppy classes were on the agenda. Jack passed
the Canine Good Citizen test at 4 ½ months of age – one smart pup! He made his conformation debut at the August
2009 shows here in Alaska and took a Group 4 placement March of 2010. Jack is a wonderful ambassador for the breed. He has
no fear – be it big dogs, new people, strange objects. He is always into something, loves to ride in his car seat, go
shopping at the feed store (cute puppies get free cookies) or visit the local quilt shop (all the gals love him). (Fantasi Swedish Vallhunds)

Welcome to Dancing Lights Vallhunds! Dancing Lights Vallhunds is a small, home based kennel in North Pole, Alaska (yes, we know Santa!)
Our dogs are our children and share our home with us. While I only ‘discovered’ Swedish
Vallhunds in the past few years, I have always been owned by a dog or two. The current
household includes two senior Australian Shepherds, a Golden Retriever, one rather frustrated cat, and of course our Swedish
Vallhunds. It was during a search for a smaller breed that I came across the Vallhund. They were not yet
AKC recognized. After much research and a trip to California to ‘meet’ some in person, I was hooked. Smaller,
sturdy, friendly, outgoing people dogs - this was the breed I wanted! It took another 6 months before I
was able to locate an available puppy and bring her home. Josie made her Alaskan debut in -20 degree weather, the end of January
2007. (thank you to Cheryl Albert of Caval Kennel in MI) It didn’t take long to discover that Vallhunds
are addictive, you can’t have just one. A male this time, with thoughts of breeding and showing. Jack came to Alaska
in April 2009. He is co-owned with Pamela Abrath of Fantasi Swedish Vallhunds in WI. My ultimate goal is to increase awareness of the breed
and introduce Vallhunds to Alaska. Being a ‘Northern’ breed helps them in dealing with our climate. Cold and snow
don’t faze them, they have great house manners, are extremely alert, watchful and all around good companions. I welcome
any inquiries about the breed.

More Breed Information.
Swedish
Vallhunds were introduced to the United States in early
1984 from Starvon Kennel in the UK but were not bred at that time. In 1985, Marilyn Thell of Rhode Island, was visiting England
and saw SVs at Crufts. Being of Swedish descent, she wanted to know more about the Swedish Vallhund. After learning more
about the breed’s background, Marilyn brought two SVs to the United States in July 1985. Two others followed shortly
and the first litter of nine SVs in the United States was whelped at Jonricker Kennel, September 4, 1986. The Swedish Vallhund
Club of America was formed to preserve and promote the prosperity and true qualities of the Swedish Vallhund. The Club emphasizes
the breed’s natural qualities in the breeding of the SVs and provides education to the public about this wonderful breed.
The SVCA is dedicated to preserving the health, quality and temperament of the breed. SVs are self-confident, lively, inquisitive,
courageous, loyal and independent. They are agile, fast, eager to please and take well to training. They are friendly, healthy
and hardy. The SV is alert, watchful and will stand his ground to observe what is happening but is not aggressive. SVs have
delightful personalities. Their temperaments are sound, loving, and sweet. They are calm and adaptable and delight in sharing
your life. Being a spitz breed, they sometimes have a tendency to bark; however, this can be corrected with training. They
find new uses for toys and are quite good at problem-solving. They enjoy being stimulated by learning new tasks.
